About Alnwick Castle
Although Alnwick Castle is adjacent to Alnwick Gardens they are separate attractions. The earliest mention of Alnwick Castle in the history books was in 1096. Alnwick Castle has so much to do with a wealth of English history and its own landscaping.
Alnwick Castle has also been the perfect setting for films. Films include the setting for Hogwarts in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone" but also "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" starring Kevin Costner, "Elizabeth" starring Cate Blanchett plus many more. Not only film but TV has used the castle from Count Dracula in 1977, to Black Adder starring Rowan Atkinson to the Virgin Queen in 2005.
So if you want to "visit Hogwarts" or pretend to be a medieval knight this is the place to come. There is something for everyone, including "Knights School" for the kids or relax and watch a production in the theatre in the grounds (visit web site for details). There is always something happening at Alnwick Castle.
